Joseph M.

Dr. Chesley E.

Dr. Chesley E.

Joseph Monk has had a lifelong passion for science and math. At The Indiana Academy, he was named the top chemistry student and conducted Mars-analog soil research in partnership with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He went on to study physics at Caltech on full scholarships, where he conducted research in nuclear physics and astrobiology. His work later led to the development of an FDA-approved microlithography method used in pharmaceutical labeling.

Joseph brings both research expertise and a deep commitment to education. He has taught AP Chemistry (lecture and lab), AP Biology, AP Macroeconomics, and Pre-Calculus. His teaching style emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving over memorization, encouraging students to become independent, confident learners.

With a calm, thoughtful approach and a genuine passion for mentorship, Joseph is especially well-suited to support students interested in advanced science fields—particularly physics and research-based careers. His ability to make complex concepts approachable makes him a trusted guide for students aiming high.

Harvard graduate Chesley  is a distinguished MD candidate at Vanderbilt University, earning dual certificates in Health Equity and Global Health. She graduated with High Honors from Harvard College with a degree in Evolutionary Biology and a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy.

Entirely self-directed through her academic journey, Chesley was accepted to over 15 top medical schools—including Ivy League institutions and the exclusive UC Berkeley-UCSF joint program—ultimately receiving multiple full-ride offers totaling over $250,000.

Her academic foundation spans calculus, organic chemistry, physics, and graduate-level biology, and she was awarded a National Science Foundation scholarship to conduct marine biology research. Her Honors thesis was published in the Harvard Undergraduate Research Journal.

Chesley brings over a decade of mentoring and tutoring experience. At Harvard, she served as a proctor and tutor in chemistry and organic chemistry, advised over 30 undergraduates as a freshman Advising Fellow, and worked as an ESL consultant. Her passion for language and education led her to teach English in Martinique and study Mandarin, French, Zulu, and Igbo.

Through competitive global fellowships, she has studied and volunteered in over seven countries—including Taiwan, South Africa, and India—cultivating a rare combination of academic rigor, cultural fluency, and holistic education.

Chesley specializes in guiding high-achieving students through elite college and graduate admissions, STEM mastery, and global enrichment. She offers unmatched insight, depth, and mentorship—ideal for families seeking world-class, bespoke educational support.

Kathryn P.

Hi, I’m Emily—a UCLA graduate with a degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. I graduated cum laudewith departmental honors and will be starting dental school at UCLA this fall. I was also accepted to Columbia, USC, and Loma Linda dental schools.

With over three years of tutoring experience, I specialize in chemistry and advanced biology, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and physiology. I also have experience tutoring a broad range of subjects across the sciences and humanities, helping students develop strong study skills and confidence in their coursework. My approach is always tailored to each student’s learning style and academic goals, and the students I’ve worked with have consistently earned high marks.

Outside of academics, I love traveling, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and practicing yoga to stay balanced and inspired.

I’m a project manager in the defense industry at Jonathan Group, where I’ve led complex engineering projects involving shipboard systems, aircraft components, and naval base infrastructure. With a background in mechanical engineering and a published research paper based on my master’s thesis, I bring a deep understanding of real-world applications to STEM education. I also hold a patent for a specialized locking mechanism, reflecting my hands-on problem-solving skills and innovation. While my professional work centers on engineering, I’m passionate about helping students make connections between classroom concepts and practical use—whether it’s in physics, calculus, or engineering design. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and building student confidence along the way.
